National Grid Service Training

An opportunity to get started with the National Grid Service (NGS), finding out about XML translation for bioinformatics formats including practical sessions.
The course at NeSC will cover accessing the facilities of the NGS to run high through put applications across multiple nodes for bioinformatics.
Attendees will launch jobs using command line and GUI interfaces and use some of the pre-installed bioinformatics applications available from the NGS nodes. Also included will be a short introduction to the practicalities of translating bioinformatics formats between XML formats.
Use of the NGS facilities is free at the point of use to UK researchers. Users need to acquire a UK eScience digital certificate for access. Applying for this certificate will be covered during the course.
** PLEASE NOTE ** - you are requested to bring a laptop with you, as we have only a limited number of machines available, therefore, some will have to use their own laptop.

Since this workshop is heavily subsidised by SBF, we are able to offer the greatly reduced registration fees of £20 regular and £10 student.
