Glasgow team scoop iGEM top environment prize

The iGEM (international Genetically Engineered Machine) competition, run by MIT, is in its 4th year with 57 teams taking part from the top universities around the world. This competition in the newly emerging field of Synthetic Biology, involved teams designing and building genetically engineered devices. The Glasgow team's entry was a self-powered environmental pollution biosensor. The team comprised 11 highly talented undergraduate students and two instructors from 3 faculties (IBLS, FIMS, Engineering), plus a set of academics lead by Susan Rosser (IBLS) and David Gilbert (DCS).
